Burglars Hit Litvin Gallery Antiques
Expensive Jewelry & Precious Stones
Date Of Theft: March 20, 2005 Status: Unsolved
The thieves who broke into Litvin Gallery Antiques, at their old address of 239 East 300 South, Salt Lake City, in the middle of the night on Sunday, March 20, 2005, knew just what to take. They took all the fine jewelry.
Their haul included an assortment of fine antique gold and silver bracelets, rings, earrings, brooches, and cufflinks, with some pieces fitted with diamonds and some with other precious gemstones. The loss was valued at more than $35,000.
The break-in came one week before the Litvins were to move into the building they now occupy. Police have no suspects in the theft, but figure the culprits had "cased" the store beforehand, as they apparently knew their way around inside.
The Litvin's new store is secured with metal bars, hidden cameras and motion detectors, and are asking people who may have information that will help them recover their property to call the Salt Lake City Police Department, or to call them directly at (801) 328-4004.
